About Us:
The University of Oklahoma is the only institution of higher learning in Oklahoma that offers a degree in Women’s and Gender Studies.
The Women’s and Gender Studies Program is an interdisciplinary program that seeks to enhance the student’s knowledge of gender roles and relations across cultures and history. Women’s and Gender Studies courses investigate the intersection of gender and such diverse phenomena as music, art, war, political activism, religion, communication, family life, and popular culture.
The flexibility of the Women’s and Gender Studies major makes it ideal for combining with other majors. Popular choices for double majors are Journalism and Mass Communication, Political Science, Sociology, History, and Human Relations.
Women’s Studies majors from OU have gone on to law school, medical school and graduate programs such as:
Master’s in Human Relations Master’s in Educational Technology
